Greenhouse emissions are increasing, and the future of the earth and humanity is at stake. Many governments in the world have committed to reduce carbon emissions. At the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP21) in Paris, France, an agreement has been reached to hold the increase in the global average temperature to well below 2°C above pre-industrial levels.

Vacuum systems are very present in industry (agrifood, pharmaceuticals, chemicals) and energy consumers. There is a lack in the literature on this subject.

This study includes an in-depth analysis of the possibilities for reducing energy consumption on vacuum systems and the financial savings as well. It is demonstrated that energy consumption can be reduced between 90% and 99% (depending on the application).
